Who this policy covers
Jottiq is developed by anacardix, based in Italy. You can reach us at contact@anacardix.com.
This policy applies to the Jottiq app available on Google Play.
What Jottiq is
Jottiq is a note-taking app for Android. It lets you create notes and organize them into nested folders, format text (bold, italic, underline, color, headings, bulleted and numbered lists, clickable links), mark notes as favorites, recover deleted notes from a trash for 30 days, optionally lock individual notes or folders, and choose a light, dark, or system-matched color theme.
Data storage: local by design
Jottiq stores everything you write — notes, folders, and their content — in a local database on your device. The app has no user accounts, no sign-up, and no login of any kind: there is nothing to register, and no identity is tied to your notes beyond the device they're stored on.
The app also has no network capability whatsoever. It does not request Android's internet permission, and as a direct result it cannot send data anywhere, to us or to anyone else, under any circumstance — not analytics, not crash reports, not backups initiated by the app itself. We do not operate any server that Jottiq talks to, because Jottiq never talks to a server.
Android's Auto Backup
Jottiq enables Android's standard Auto Backup for Apps system feature, which is a capability of the Android operating system, not of Jottiq itself. When it's active (governed by your device's own backup settings, which you control), Android periodically copies your notes database, along with backups of your other apps, to storage associated withyour own Google Account — this is the same mechanism that lets you restore your apps' data when you set up a new phone.
We want to be precise about what this means: Google, not the Jottiq developer, operates this backup storage, and we — the developer — never receive, access, or process a copy of it. It is governed by Google's own privacy terms for your Google Account, not by us. You can turn Auto Backup off at any time in your device's system settings, independent of Jottiq.
Biometric / device-credential lock
You can optionally lock a note or an entire folder using your fingerprint, face, PIN, pattern, or password — whichever your device is already set up to use. This uses Android's built-inBiometricPrompt system: the authentication itself happens inside Android's own secure system UI, and Jottiq never receives, stores, or has access to your fingerprint, face data, or PIN — only a yes/no result telling the app whether you passed the check.
This lock is an access gate, not encryption. It controls what's shown on screen inside the app; it does not scramble or separately protect the underlying note data. Notes stay in the same on-device database whether or not a lock is set on them.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no advertising SDK is included in the app.
- No analytics or crash-reporting service is included in the app — we do not know how you use the app, and we have no visibility into crashes unless you choose to report one to us directly (e.g. by email).
- No third-party SDK of any kind that transmits data is included.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data, because we never receive it in the first place.
Children's privacy
Jottiq is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, since it does not collect information from anyone at all, of any age.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top will change accordingly. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
